ONE1VOICE SPEECH & DEBATE
ABOUT Speech & Debate
One1Voice Speech & Debate is committed to teaching and preparing students for the competition season which occurs from January through June each year. Students attend NCFCA Region 12 Qualifying Tournaments competing in a wide variety of events such as limited preparation speeches such as Impromptu and Apologetics, prepared speeches such as Informative Speaking and Persuasive Speaking, and Interpretive speeches such as Duo Interp or Open Interp (these are more like drama events).

Students that compete in forensics gain many advantages such as overcoming the fear of public speaking, developing excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of the issues that affect our world today and possible solutions for improved policy making or philosophical, economic, values-based strategies for improvement.

Students spend the fall semester engaged in reading, research, and writing on topics of relevance and importance. They practice the skills of rhetoric and debate in club to prepare for the competition in the spring. Students strategize and gain an understanding of effective persuasion that stems from a Christian worldview employing manners and virtues-based practices which are truly needed in the world today.

Speech & Debate students tend to move out of high school and into society with an excellent understanding of how to use their voices to effect positive change in the world. Parents of speech and debate students often gain many benefits as well, one of which is the recognition of the amazing future ahead of us in the hands of future generations who can defend their worldview and speak with confidence and surety about issues that concern us all.
